The plural is used, in general, to talk about more than one object. Examples in English would be 'dogs', 'cats', 'houses' and 'children'. The plural in Basque is generally formed by adding '-ak' to the end of the word.

Using the nouns liburu, aulki and ate (book, chair, door) which you learned in Step 3, learn the plural of each of these words by heart. The plural forms are liburuak, aulkiak and ateak. Now learn how to use each of these Basque plural nouns with the definite article. The nouns together with the definite article are liburuak, aulkiak and ateak (the books, the chairs, the doors).
