You will see the German word written and hear it spoken. After this, you will see the waveform on the screen and then it's your turn to talk! Your voice will then be compared using speech recognition technology and you'll see just how authentic your German pronunciation is.

The stories allow you to put to use the German vocabulary and grammar which you've learned! Drag and drop the German words into their proper place in the story. Listen to the stories and use the slider to repeat portions as you wish. Doubleclick on any word and up comes the German-English dictionary with its translation in English.

Powerful software
I find the software interesting and effective. I bought the German course about two years ago. I finished it and made good progress in the language which I use in my work. Reading and writing the words is essential to learning a language. Based on my progress with German, I recently ordered the CD in English, in order to achieve the same results. I think the course would be even more complete and effective if it incorporated multiple audio CDs related to the basic course, that you could listen to in the car on the way to work for example.

Best language software available!
When I first bought this CD I thought learning a new language through my computer would be next to impossible. I was shocked at how fast it was to pick up. By the end of 2 weeks I was able to speak in small sentences. It gets easier and easier to pick up new words the more you use the software. Most definitely a MUST HAVE for anyone interested in trying to learn a new language without the hassle of trying to find a class/tutor and signing up!

Really helps
I moved to Frankfurt Germany a month ago and my daughter gave me the software as a going away gift. I have been using this package for 2-3 weeks and it has really helped me to learn German. I try to listen to the radio to/from work and when I first came, I could not understand anything. I now can pick out words and numbers and some simple phrases.
