Short Portuguese lesson

Portuguese verb conjugation: I

Verbs are used to describe actions. Portuguese verbs are conjugated for each person. The conjugation consists of an ending placed on the verb stem. For the first person singular, Portuguese verbs typically use the ending '-o'. Important to note is that pronouns are not used with the verb in Portuguese except to create emphasis. This means that, unlike English, the verb is in general used without a pronoun.

Examples

eu entendo
I understand
eu posso
I can
eu mostro
I show
eu peço
I request
eu como
I eat
