Simple Norwegian sentences

In a typical sentence in Norwegian which uses the verb 'to be', the verb is placed between the subject and the attribute as in English. The verb 'to be' is 'er' in both the singular and the plural.

Examples

Hestene er hvite.

The horses are white.

Hestene er små.

The horses are small.

Hestene er gamle.

The horses are old.

Hestene er svarte.

The horses are black.

Hestene er store.

The horses are big.
