Urdu adjectives

Adjectives are generally used to describe nouns. Adjectives come before the noun in Urdu as in English. Adjectives in Urdu agree with the noun they describe. This means that adjectives that describe a feminine noun have a special form.

Step 7 : Adjectives in Urdu

Adjectives are used to describe nouns. To get started, we suggest you learn the three Urdu adjectives bara, chota and purana (big, small, old). Using the nouns kitab, kursi and darvaza (book, chair, door) which you learned in Step 3, learn to use each adjective with each noun (the big book, the old chair, the small door). You can scroll to the top of this page to see a short lesson about Urdu adjectives including useful examples. After you've learned to use the adjectives bara, chota and purana with the nouns kitab, kursi and darvaza you can move on to Step 8 (Urdu Verbs).
