Verbs are used to describe actions. Basque makes a difference between transitive verbs and intransitive verbs. Transitive verbs are verbs which take an object ('I see the girl', 'I know the man' etc.). Transitive verbs in Basque use 'dut' as an auxiliary verb. Intransitive verbs are verbs which do not take an object ('I work', 'I go' etc.). Intransitive verbs in Basque use 'naiz' as an auxiliary verb.

We suggest you learn the Basque verbs ikusi, nahi and gogoko izan (see, want, like). Using the nouns liburu, aulki and ate (book, chair, door) which you learned in Step 3, learn to use each verb with each noun (I want the book, you see the chair, they like the door etc.).
