Croatian nouns - plural

The plural is used, in general, to talk about more than one object. Examples in English would be 'dogs', 'cats', 'houses' and 'children'. In Croatian, masculine nouns generally form the plural with the ending '-i'. Feminine nouns on the other hand generally form the plural with the ending '-e'.

The plural is important in Croatian when you need to talk about more than one thing. Using the nouns knjiga, stolica and vrata (book, chair, door) which you learned in Step 3, learn the plural of each of these words by heart. The plural forms are knjige, stolice and vrata. Now learn how to use each of these Croatian plural nouns with the definite article. The nouns together with the definite article are knjige, stolice and vrata (the books, the chairs, the doors).
