Hausa adjectives

Adjectives are generally used to describe nouns. Hausa, however, has only a handful of true adjectives. In Hausa, in the place of adjectives, nouns are generally used, together with the word 'da' or the word 'mai'.

Step 7 : Adjectives in Hausa

Adjectives are used to describe nouns. To get started, we suggest you learn the three Hausa adjectives babba, karama and tsoho (big, small, old). Using the nouns littafi, kujera and kofa (book, chair, door) which you learned in Step 3, learn to use each adjective with each noun (the big book, the old chair, the small door). You can scroll to the top of this page to see a short lesson about Hausa adjectives including useful examples. After you've learned to use the adjectives babba, karama and tsoho with the nouns littafi, kujera and kofa you can move on to Step 8 (Hausa Verbs).
