Verbs are used to describe actions. Persian verbs are conjugated for each person. The conjugation consists of an ending placed on the verb stem. For the first person singular, Persian verbs typically use the ending '-am'. Important to note is that pronouns are not used with the verb in Persian except to create emphasis. This means that, unlike English, the verb is in general used without a pronoun.

We suggest you learn the Persian verbs didan, qāstan and dust daštan (see, want, like). Using the nouns kitāb, sandali and dar (book, chair, door) which you learned in Step 3, learn to use each verb with each noun (I want the book, you see the chair, they like the door etc.). After you've learned using the three verbs didan, qāstan and dust daštan by heart you can move on to Step 9 (Persian possessive pronouns).
