Simple Irish sentences

In a typical sentence in Irish which uses the verb 'to be', the verb is placed at the beginning of the sentence. If the attribute is an adjective the verb form 'tá' is used. If the attribute is a noun the verb form 'is' is used.

Examples

Tá na tithe sean.

The houses are old.

Tá na tithe beag.

The houses are small.

Tá na tithe mór.

The houses are big.

Tá na tithe nua.

The houses are new.
