Simple Portu­guese sentences

In a typical sentence in Portuguese which uses the verb 'to be', the verb is placed between the subject and the attribute as in English. In the singular, the verb 'to be' is 'é'. In the plural, the verb 'to be' is 'são'.

As mulheres são jovens.
The women are young.
As mulheres são felizes.
The women are happy.
As mulheres são bonitas.
The women are beautiful.
As mulheres são velhas.
