Simple Portu­guese sentences

In a typical sentence in Portuguese which uses the verb 'to be', the verb is placed between the subject and the attribute as in English. In the singular, the verb 'to be' is 'é'. In the plural, the verb 'to be' is 'são'.

Os meninos são grandes.
The boys are big.
Os meninos são pequenos.
The boys are small.
Os meninos são preguiçosos.
The boys are lazy.
Os meninos são fortes.
