Simple Spanish sentences

In a typical sentence in Spanish which uses the verb 'to be', the verb is placed between the subject and the attribute as in English. In the singular, the verb 'to be' is 'es'. In the plural, the verb 'to be' is 'son'.

Examples

Las ventanas están abiertas.
The windows are open.
Las ventanas están sucias.
The windows are dirty.
Las ventanas están cerradas.
The windows are closed.
Las ventanas son grandes.
The windows are big.
Las ventanas son pequeñas.
The windows are small.
