The plural is used, in general, to talk about more than one object. Examples in English would be 'dogs', 'cats', 'houses' and 'children'. The plural in Spanish is generally formed by adding '-s' to the end of the word. Some words in Spanish form the plural by adding '-es' to the end of the word.

The plural is important in Spanish when you need to talk about more than one thing. Using the nouns libro, silla and puerta (book, chair, door) which you learned in Step 3, learn the plural of each of these words by heart. The plural forms are libros, sillas and puertas. Now learn how to use each of these Spanish plural nouns with the definite article. The nouns together with the definite article are los libros, las sillas and las puertas (the books, the chairs, the doors).
