In the present tense, where an English sentence would use the verb 'to be', a typical sentence in Tatar does not use a verb at all. Just the subject and the attribute are used without a verb.
Tatar is spoken by about 5 million people in Russia, Ukraine, Poland, China, Finland and Turkey. Before 1928 Tatar was written with a variant of the Arabic alphabet. It then used a Latin alphabet until 1938 which was replaced by a Cyrillic alphabet. Since 2000 the use of a Latin alphabet writing system has become popular.
