Viet­namese nouns - plural

The plural is used, in general, to talk about more than one object. Examples in English would be 'dogs', 'cats', 'houses' and 'children'. The plural in Vietnamese is generally formed using the word 'những'.

Step 5 : The plural in Viet­namese

The plural is important in Vietnamese when you need to talk about more than one thing. Using the nouns quyển sách, cái ghế and cánh cửa (book, chair, door) which you learned in Step 3, learn the plural of each of these words by heart. The plural forms are những quyển sách, những cái ghế and những cánh cửa. Now learn how to use each of these Vietnamese plural nouns with the definite article. The nouns together with the definite article are những quyển sách, những cái ghế and những cánh cửa (the books, the chairs, the doors).
