Khmer personal pronouns : I

A personal pronoun is what we call the English words 'I', 'you', 'he', 'she', 'we' and 'they'. Just like English, Khmer has a set of personal pronouns. The English word 'I' is a pronoun in the first person singular. The Khmer word for 'I' is 'könyóm'.

Demonstrative pronouns are used to refer to specific objects and their locations. In English, this would be the words this and these to refer to objects which are near and that and those to refer to objects which are further away. Using the nouns siyapáwo, kawáyi and tveyar (book, chair, door) which you learned in Step 3, learn to use the demonstrative pronouns with each of these nouns (this book, that chair, these doors).
