Simple Welsh sentences

In a typical sentence in Welsh which uses the verb 'to be', the verb 'mae' is placed at the beginning of the sentence. It is also possible to place the attribute at the beginning of the sentence to create emphasis. In this case the verb form 'yw' is used.

Examples

Mae'r ceffyl yn wyn.
The horse is white.
Mae'r ceffyl yn hen.
The horse is old.
Mae'r ceffyl yn ddu.
The horse is black.
Mae'r ceffyl yn fawr.
The horse is big.
Mae'r ceffyl yn fach.
The horse is small.
